Breath & Mind: Closing the Gap
Emotional Breathlessness in Chronic Respiratory Disease β UK National Awareness Survey Report 2025 (2.0)
October 2025 Β· UK-First National Survey
In October 2025, we conducted the UK’s first national survey exploring public awareness of the mental health challenges associated with chronic respiratory disease β resulting in the Breath & Mind: Emotional Breathlessness Awareness Report (2025).
Our findings reveal critical gaps in public and clinical awareness of the links between anxiety, depression, and long-term breathlessness. Alongside the report, we have developed concrete policy recommendations to embed emotional breathlessness recognition within NHS pathways and beyond.
Our goal is simple: to ensure every person living with chronic respiratory disease receives compassionate, holistic care that addresses both their physical and emotional needs β improving quality of life and reducing health inequalities.
